Current The General auto insurance policyholders can view policy details (covered drivers, premium amounts, specific coverages) by signing in to their ‘MyPolicy’ account. Once logged in, users can also make payments, print/request identification cards, get free quotes, make changes to their policy, as well as perform other account management actions. If you do not already have an online account, follow the steps listed in the guide below to register your policy. The mobile app (download links at the top of this page) can be used to access account information via iOS or Android-powerered mobile devices (such as your phone or tablet).
How to Log In
Step 1 – Go to the account access page by clicking the ‘Login’ link at the top of this page (or enter www.thegeneral.com into your web browser, and click the ‘Manage My Policy’ link on the homepage).
Step 2 – In the first field, enter your policy number or email address. Then enter your password into the second input field. Press ‘Login’ to sign in to your account.
Forgot Password – On the main sign-in page, press the ‘Forgot your password?’ link. Enter your email address or policy number and click ‘Continue.’ A temporary password will be emailed to you. After using the temporary password to log in, you will be required to set a new password.
Enroll in Online Access
Step 1 – Go to the homepage.
Step 2 – Click ‘Manage My Policy’ as outlined below.
Step 3 – On the sign-in page, press the ‘Register’ button. You will be taken to the three-step registration form.
Step 4 – Enter the last seven digits of your policy number and press ‘Continue.’ In the next step you will create your account details (password, account email).
Make a Claim
Step 1 – Report a new claim or check for an update to an existing claim by calling 1(800)-280-1466 (extension #3). This phone line is open 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
